Founded by Joe McHenry, A.E. Saxon and Arthur Newth Morris in 1973, Rock-Tenn Company incorporated in Georgia and went public on the New York Stock Exchange. Rock-Tenn is a leading manufacturer of folding carton makers, produces packaging for food, paper goods, hardware, apparel, and other consumer goods including folding cartons for food, paper goods, health and beauty items, clothing, and other products; solid-fiber partitions used in the interiors of packaging of such items as glass containers; laminated paperboard for book covers, furniture, and other products. Rock-Tenn uses recycled and virgin paperboard to make these products and converts paperboard for use in book covers, furniture and automotive components. The company is also a manufacturer of containerboard, bleached paperboard and merchandising displays for specialty corrugated packaging and point-of-purchase displays. Rock-Tenn also sells recycled paperboard to other American firms. Headquartered in Norcross, Ga., the company operates 100 facilities located in 27 states, Canada, Mexico, Chile and Argentina. There are 33 facilities used by the consumer packaging segment, 19 in corrugated packaging, 16 in the merchandising displays segment and 30 in the specialty paperboard products segment. Other subsidiaries maintained include Concord Industries, Rock-Tenn Company, Mill Division and Seven Hills Paperboard.
