Procter and Gamble Co. was incorporated in Ohio in 1905, having been built from a business founded in 1837 by William Procter and James Gamble. The company trades on the New York Stock Exchange and the Paris Stock Exchange. As a provider of branded consumer goods to improve the lives of the world's consumers, Procter and Gamble operates three global business segments: beauty, health and well-being, and household care. Headquartered in Cincinnati, Ohio, the company owns and operates 39 manufacturing facilities located in 23 different states. In addition, Procter and Gamble owns and operates 103 manufacturing facilities in 42 other countries. The company's products are sold in more than 180 countries around the world primarily through mass merchandisers, grocery stores, membership club stores, drug stores and high-frequency stores. On October 1, 2005, Procter and Gamble acquired The Gillette Company. Among the company's dozens of major brands are Febreze Air Fresheners, Secret, Charmin, Luvs, Pampers, Duracell, Ivory, Herbal Essences, Mr. Clean, Cheer, Iams and Braun.
