Company description

General Motors Company was formed by the United States Department of the Treasury in 2009 originally as a Delaware limited liability company, Vehicle Acquisition Holdings LLC, and subsequently converted to a Delaware corporation, NGMCO Inc. On July 10, 2009, the company, acquired substantially all of the assets and assumed certain liabilities of General Motors Corporation and changed its name to General Motors Company. General Motors Corporation was incorporated in Delaware in 1916. GM manufactures and cars, trucks and parts in 34 countries and sells them through dealers and distributors in 140 countries. The majority of distributors and dealers are independently owned. GM markets vehicles under the following brands: Chevrolet, Buick, Cadillac, GMC, GM Daewoo, Holden, Opel, Vauxhall and Wuling. Headquartered in Detroit, Mich., GM's largest national market is the United States, followed by China, Brazil, Germany, the United Kingdom, Canada and Italy. GM's OnStar subsidiary is the industry leader in vehicle safety, security and information services.
