Insurance didn't cover patent infringement. (Law & Liability).

IN 1995, CHIUMINATTA CONCRETE CONCEPTS INC. SUED Green Machine Corp., charging that Green's manufacture, sale, and promotion of concrete-cutting saws infringed and induced others to infringe Chiuminatta's products and methods patents. In 1997, the federal trial court ruled for Chiuminatta and Green Machine appealed.

Green then tried to get Zurich-American Insurance Group, the company that issued its general liability policy, to cover Chiuminatta's patent infringement claims. Green asserted that Chiuminatta's claims fell within the "advertising injury" coverage provided by Zurich's policy. Zurich denied coverage in June 1998.

Shortly thereafter, the appellate court reversed part of the district court's judgment, holding that Green did not infringe the product patents of Chiuminatta. …
