GRAND JURY HERE CLEARS MAN CAUGHT CARRYING BOX CUTTERS AT LAMBERT FIELD.(News)

A garment worker caught with box cutters at Lambert Field three weeks ago is back at home in New York with charges dismissed, authorities said Friday.

The U.S. attorney's office dropped a charge of trying to carry concealed weapons aboard an airplane after a federal grand jury voted not to indict Joubin Kalimian, 32, of Great Neck, N.Y.

Key to the grand jury's vote was Kalimian's testimony, his lawyer, Paul D'Agrosa, said Friday. Kalimian was questioned for more than an hour on Wednesday before the grand jury voted.

D'Agrosa said he was grateful that federal prosecutors granted his request to let Kalimian testify.

"It's always a gamble to put the defendant on the stand, but in this case well worth it," he said. …
