BBDO adds new food client: Skippy

Although its paret company Omnicom Group reported a less-than-spectacular 1988 revenue and earnings picture Monday, BBDO New York did its part for the new fiscal year by winning the $10 million Skippy peanut butter account.

BBDO was involved in a creative competition against Jordan, McGrath, Case & Taylor and Saatchi & Saatchi Advertising, which previously had the account.

Best Foods, the company that markets Skippy, also sells Hellmann's mayonnaise, Mazola products and Thomas' English muffins. CPC International is the parent company.

Getting a major food marketer like this as client is an important move for the growth of the agency, which could be in line for new product assignments when they are under development. …
