Sprint [FON] plans to deploy the latest in high-capacity wavelength division multiplexing equipment from Ciena Corp. [CIEN] - a 40-channel system capable of carrying 100 Gbps of traffic called the MultiWave 4000. The companies say Sprint will be the first carrier to deploy 40-channel WDM.
