Last seen: A 3-foot-long blue-and-gold macaw in Corrales this week soaring above the treetops.

For more than a month, the tropical bird has eluded animal control officers, surviving on fruits and pecans from its favorite tree on Meadowlark, according to Pam George, senior animal control officer in Corrales.

The bird's origins remain a mystery to animal control officers, but it seems to have found a home in Corrales.

George said Wednesday she is worried that the bird could die in cold weather and if its food supply runs low. …
