The public will have a chance to comment on a proposed listing of the Chiricahua leopard frog as a threatened species at a hearing Tuesday in Silver City.

The U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service is gathering information about the status of, threats to and conservation of the frog. The Chiricahua, which is found in Arizona and southwestern New Mexico, is threatened by non-native predators, disease and loss of habitat. …
