Moriarty Takes Girls' Team Title

Sporting a flowered hair tie that came complete with all colors of the rainbow, Pojoaque's Jacquelyne Gallegos proved again during Friday's Jaguar Invitational at Capital High School why she is considered one of the state's premiere cross-country runners.

Gallegos cruised to a convincing 52-second victory in the individual portion of the girls' race as Pojoaque placed three of the top four finishers.

"It took a while for me to really get started," she said. "I tried to get out fast because there's so many girls in this race. If you don't get out early, you can get stuck in the middle and fall behind. …
