Leased Bus Driven In Shuttlejack Crash

A judge has refused to release a leasing company from lawsuits filed by families of victims hurt or killed in the Shuttlejack bus crash last year, an attorney said Friday.

Wells Fargo Equipment Leasing Corp. had leased to Shuttlejack Inc. the bus involved in the March 1999 crash. Wells Fargo had argued it wasn't responsible for the bus' condition, said Bruce Pasternack, an Albuquerque attorney representing the family of 11-year-old Eric Garcia, who died in the crash along with 44-year-old Gary Apodaca.

District Judge James Hall refused to dismiss Wells Fargo as a defendant because a question remains over who owned the bus, Pasternack said. …
