Alamogordo Native To Run N.M. Museum System.

Alamogordo native Tom Wilsonwas picked Friday as executive director of the Museum of New Mexico, the state museum and monument system that employs about 285 people.

Wilson had been serving as interim director of the Santa Fe-based museum system since May after his appointment by Cultural Affairs Officer Edson Way. Wilson replaced Tom Livesay, who served 14 years before resigning.

"I love New Mexico and I think this is an opportunity to give back to the state that has given me so much," said Wilson, who was chosen over finalist J. Brooks Joyner, director of the Gilcrease Museum in Tulsa, Okla.

The Museum of New Mexico includes four Santa Fe museums, five state monuments, the Office of Archaeological Studies and education programs that are put on across the state. …
