In Colorado, where bluegrass comes in many colors, Open Road plays like it's from the old sod.

The group of young revivalists evokes the spirit of the music's Appalachian homeland more than any of the Rocky Mountain "newgrass" hybrids that have flourished in their northern Colorado habitat.

In fact, group members feel downright protective of the legacy they're continuing with their musical homage to legends like the Stanley Brothers and Bill Monroe. …
