Artist Ralph Williams' admiration for French Impressionist Painter Pierre Auguste Renoir is twofold. First and most obviously, Williams admires the painter for the sheer beauty of the colors he captured in many of his famous oils on canvas during the late 19th century.

But it is Renoir's later-life struggles with rheumatoid arthritis which are the most moving to him.

Williams, who is currently a professor emeritus at the University of New Mexico, has worked and studied in the field of rheumatology for more than 30 years. …
