Hidden inside the faux-village kitsch of the Santa Fe Market building on Don Gaspar is a tiny restaurant space. Previously occupied by a back-East couple who sold lobster sandwiches and then a Russian guy who sold piroshki, it's now home to Alisa's American Deli.

If you are looking for a best-quality sandwich, an old-fashioned soup or a down-home dessert at a reasonable price, Alisa's is a good place to go. We eat there often, because she offers Sage bread and Boar's Head cold cuts on sandwiches that used to be a lot cheaper than anybody else's and still are a little cheaper. Co-workers are repeat consumers of her soups, others swear by the brownies and muffins. …
