* Gentry recognized as man who revolutionized sport of team roping

There are, roughly, about 90,000 team ropers in the United States.

Thanks to a North Valley man, it is now possible to rank those ropers according to their talent, and team roping is now a more competitive sport.

Last week, that man, 48-year-old Denny Gentry, was honored in Washington and recognized as the man who revolutionized the sport. Gentry was awarded the University of Louisville's John W. Galbreath Award for Outstanding Entrepreneurship in the Equine Industry for 2000.

Gentry was given his award on Sept. 27 at the annual convention of the American Horse Council. …
