Edgewood Interchange Plans Weighed.

Residents Respond To 3 New Designs

The state Highway and Transportation Department is giving Edgewood residents three new design options for a freeway interchange at Interstate 40 and N.M. 344.

Department representatives were at a public meeting Tuesday night to present the options, which are in addition to two others presented in April. Those previous options included rebuilding the two freeway bridges over N.M. 344 and leaving the interchange in its current configuration, or redoing the interchange, which would result in rerouting the frontage road north of the freeway.

The three options presented at Tuesday's meeting were in response to the lack of support for the previous plans, said Hooshang Tavanaiepour, project development engineer with the highway department. …
