Six Students Suspended For Language.

A threatening-language policy enacted last year by the Moriarty Municipal Schools District got its first test last week.

But it also raised questions of whether the district is violating First Amendment rights to free speech.

Thirteen-year-old Mike Hansen, an eighth-grader at Edgewood Middle School, was suspended for one day Sept. 25, and five other students earned two days of in-school suspension for violating the policy.

The students admitted to writing a list of other students at their school that they hated and posting it on a home Web site. …
