Officials Confirm Testing Program

WHITE ROCK A plane that buzzed White Rock on Tuesday night was part of a Los Alamos National Laboratory test, lab officials said Wednesday.

Beginning about 9 p.m., the plane came out of the night and began circling White Rock. The circling continued for nearly an hour.

Wednesday, LANL acknowledged that it was responsible for the flight.

"The flights are to test advanced remote sensing technology that is being developed as part of threat-reduction technology," said Kathy DeLucas, a LANL spokeswoman.

There will be similar flights from time to time during the next few weeks, she said. …
