AROUND NEW MEXICO

Three New Mexico schools have received almost $1.2 million from the federal Department of Housing and Urban Development to help Hispanic community development.

The University of New Mexico, Albuquerque Technical Vocational Institute and New Mexico State University-Dona Ana Branch Community College were awarded $1,198,388 through HUD's Institutions Assisting Communities Program. The awards were announced by Sen. Pete Domenici, R-N.M.

The UNM project in the South Valley will use $398,388 to generate local jobs and provide business assistance, including the construction of a small business incubator. …
