Turquoise Trail Retains Charter School Status.

The Santa Fe school board on Tuesday reapproved charter status for Turquoise Trail Elementary School but delayed actions that could have moved charter efforts at two other campuses forward.

Turquoise Trail converted from an existing public school to a charter school in 1994 under New Mexico's original charter school law. During the 2000 Legislature, the charter law was amended and Turquoise Trail had to reapply under the new charter law.

On Tuesday, the board approved the application after Turquoise Trail officials provided written responses to seven questions from the district's legal counsel about school operations. …
