* Santa Fe Audubon group is adding an education and visitors center at its reserve

The Santa Fe chapter of the National Audubon Society broke ground Tuesday on a new visitors center for its 135-acre reserve and with it hopes of environmental education opportunities for youngsters.

Under a warm autumn sun, New Mexico Audubon Council President Tom Jervis praised fellow society workers, volunteers and other supporters for their work in preparing for what the society says will be the state's first center of its kind.

"This new education center is really a triumph of the things that Audubon of New Mexico has been working for for years," Jervis said of the planned 1,800-square-foot building at the Randall Davey Audubon Center. …
