Some of the differences between the candidates for district attorney come down to the Bill of Rights and the value of courtroom experience vs. political philosophy.

"The important question is what is your philosophy," Republican Skip Vernon said in an interview last week. "It comes down to the decisions you have to make as a prosecutor."

"We need a district attorney who has hands-on experience," Democrat Kari Brandenburg said last week at a candidates forum at a Northeast Heights neighborhood association meeting. "Whether the district attorney is in the courtroom or not, the DA needs experience. …
