Crotzer Was Dedicated To Honoring Others

Bob Crotzer Sr. was known as a tireless worker for Albuquerque's veterans organizations.

A former Navy senior chief petty officer, Crotzer helped in the creation of the New Mexico Veterans Memorial at Phil Chacon Park in Albuquerque, said a daughter, Laura Putz, of Albuquerque.

Crotzer died Sept. 21 of complications from POEMS Syndrome, a rare occurrence in which most of the body's systems fail. He was 71.

A funeral service was held Sept. 25 with burial at Santa Fe National Cemetery.

James Coad, a veteran who has spent about 50 years working for a memorial, said Crotzer encouraged people to support the project before it opened a few years ago. …
