Piled in a cardboard box with dozens of other tattered books, an unexpected gem was dumped anonymously on the door step of the Museum of New Mexico's Laboratory of Anthropology.

Laboratory staff and volunteers who rummaged through thousands of books donated for a fund-raiser found a jewel they never expected to see: a signed copy of Albert Einstein's "The World As I See It."

The annual book sale and silent auction Saturday benefited the laboratory's library and education programs. The sale continues today.
