* Traveling exhibition shows similarities between New Mexican and Spanish art

An exhibition designed to introduce Spaniards to the similarities between New Mexican and Spanish art opened last week at the Museo de America in Madrid, Spain.

U.S. Ambassador to Spain Edward Romero of Albuquerque was key in making the arrangements for "Con Sentimiento Desde Nuevo Mexico," or "With Feeling from New Mexico," to appear in prominent museums in Spain.

The three-part exhibition was created at the University of New Mexico in honor of National Hispanic Heritage Month.

The show's three parts are: "Cuando Hablan Los Santos" featuring northern New Mexico santos; "Pilgrimage to Chimayo," featuring photos by the University of New Mexico's Miguel Gandert and others and text by UNM's Enrique Lamadrid; and "Caminos y Corazones," featuring drawings by UNM's Jim Jacob. …
