Mustangs Rush Past Outmanned Pintos

The Highland football team's offensive machine continued to roll Saturday, as the second-ranked Hornets punished Valley 42-7 at Wilson Stadium.

Highland (5-0) scored touchdowns on each of its first five possessions, building a 35-0 halftime lead and never looking back.

"This is mostly a senior team, and it shows," Hornets coach Judge Chavez said. "These kids have been running our offense since they were freshman and sophomores. They really know what they're doing."

Valley (1-4) moved the ball effectively on the game's first series, but three consecutive Vikings penalties killed the drive. A Valley punt gave Highland the ball at its 21 and the track meet began.

Kevin Phillips had a 30-yard run and Matthew Long hit Mark Walters with a 17-yard pass during a nine-play, 79-yard drive. …
