Mustangs Tamed In 6-Man Semifinal.(Sports)

The Mountainair Mustangs missed their chance to move on to the six-man football state championship game when they fell to the host Floyd Broncos in the semifinals on Saturday by a 72-46 score.

Mountainair earned the trip to play Floyd by beating the Roy Longhorns on their turf in a quarterfinal game on Oct. 28. The Mustangs advanced to the state semifinal level for the 10th time in their six-man football history.

The Broncos, however, had an even better season this year, going into Saturday's game as the top-ranked six-man team in the state.

The Mustangs held their own through most of the first half, but the Broncos still dominated to lead 44-24 by halftime. …
