Mayor, Councilor Have Proposals

Recent projections that Santa Fe City Hall budget deficits could reach millions of dollars have spawned a flurry of calls and proposals to address financial shortcomings.

"It kind of surprised me," Delgado said before Wednesday's City Council meeting.

Last month, finance officials said that a number of operations, including garbage collection and the city's Marty Sanchez Links de Santa Fe golf course, aren't collecting enough revenue to match costs. In all, the so-called "enterprise funds" in financial trouble carry a combined deficit of $2.1 million.

"I didn't realize we were having this situation at the (course)," Delgado said. …
