Former city councilor Tim Cummins claimed a seat on the Bernalillo County Commission and incumbent Commissioner Steve D. Gallegos coasted to re-election, according to unofficial results Tuesday.

In the race for county clerk, Democrat Mary Herrera appeared to have the edge over Republican James R. Reddin, also according to unofficial results.

County Commissioner Tom Rutherford, a Democrat from District 3, was unopposed in his re-election bid. Also unopposed was Alex Abeyta Jr., a Democrat running for county treasurer.

In commission District 4 which covers the Northeast Heights Cummins said an endorsement from outgoing Commissioner Barbara Seward was a big boost to his campaign. …
