1 GOP Appointee Apparently Unseated

One incumbent Bernalillo County Metropolitan Court judge appeared to have lost his job to a Democratic challenger in Tuesday's election, but a second incumbent appears to have kept her spot.

Incumbent Republican Sharon Walton had a slim lead over challenger J. Wayne Griego, according to unofficial results.

Frank Sedillo, an Albuquerque general-practice lawyer, also had a small lead over incumbent Republican Reed S. Sheppard.

Walton and Sheppard were both appointed by Republican Gov. Gary Johnson. Walton was named to the bench last year to fill a new judgeship created by the Legislature, and Sheppard was selected early this year to fill the spot of a judge named to a higher court. …
