BERNALILLO COUNTY BOND ISSUES AND MILL LEVIES

Bernalillo County voters opened their wallets Tuesday, voting to raise property taxes for health care and approving five bond measures and an open-space tax.

Voters approved a property tax increase that will raise $57 million a year for the University of New Mexico Hospital money that will help pay staff and go toward a slew of services, programs and capital improvements.

With 99 percent of the county precincts reporting, 69 percent voted in support of the hospital tax.

County homeowners can expect to see a marked increase in the health-care portion of their property tax bills as a result. …
