Democrats Take Rio Arriba.

ESPANOLA A straight slate of Democrats, including three incumbents, won four Rio Arriba County races after sweeping away minimal Republican opposition, according to unofficial returns Tuesday night.

County Commissioner Moises Morales, County Clerk J. Fred Vigil and County Treasurer Robin Dominguez-Roybal each handily won re-election. Their Republican challengers didn't fare well in a county where 82 percent of the roughly 21,500 registered voters are Democrats.

"They're on the losing end," Morales said of the Republicans. "I don't think there will be too big of an impact."

In the race for county magistrate, Alex Naranjo, a Democrat and longtime Espanola Public Schools board member, defeated Republican challenger Feliberto Martinez. …
