Voters Turn Out Early Despite Snow, Cold.

* At one polling place in Santa Fe, there was a 1 1/2-hour wait despite the addition of an extra voting machine

Despite a morning snow storm, enough voters went to the polls in Santa Fe early Tuesday to create long lines at some voting locations.

At the Elk's Lodge on Old Pecos Trail, election workers opened at 7 a.m. with two voting machines. Within a half hour, they rolled out a third machine because the line of voters was growing longer and longer, said Anselmo Velverde, the presiding judge for the polling place.

Even so, between 9:30 a.m. and 12:30 p.m., voters endured 1 1/2-hour waits, he said.

"We've been having a good turnout," Anselmo Valverde, the presiding judge at the Elk's Club, said. …
