Voters Retain Legislative Vets

In incomplete election returns Tuesday night, State Sen. Phil Griego, D-San Jose, appeared headed to victory over Republican challenger Robert H. Skigen of Santa Fe despite Griego's recent conviction for drunken driving.

Griego had 57 percent of the vote with 83 percent of Senate District 39's precincts reporting.

Also, state Rep. Debbie Rodella, D-San Juan Pueblo, was running well ahead of a Republican opponent in her effort to win a fifth term.

Other Northern New Mexico incumbents were doing well. Incumbents who were leading in incomplete returns included Rep. Max Coll, D-Santa Fe; Rep. Ben Lujan, D-Nambe; Sen. Roman Maes, D-Santa Fe; and Sen. …
