Police Say Suspect Had Phony ID.

Police said a Mexican national charged in the killing of Kathleen Lopez last month was arrested in April in Santa Fe on suspicion of drunken driving, but because he used an alias, officers didn't know of a pending warrant for his arrest from California.

Ivan Sanchez-Lara, 25, was arrested and charged with drunken driving in April after his blood-alcohol content recorded at 0.10 percent, Santa Fe County Undersheriff Benjie Montano said Monday.

Sanchez-Lara did not have a driver's license, but a New Mexico identity card with his alias, Ramon Delgado, Montano said.

The arresting deputy ran the alias through the National Crime Information Center computer but didn't get any hits, he said. …
