Lopez Says Chamber Plans Not a Factor

There will be at least one new face next year on the Albuquerque Board of Education.

Board president Aggie Lopez has announced that she won't seek a third term. Lopez, who has been combative at times with Superintendent Brad Allison as well as past district leaders, holds one of the four seats that will be on the election ballot in February.

Lopez said she's stepping aside to make way for new ideas, not because the Greater Albuquerque Chamber of Commerce and business allies are planning a major push to remake the board.

The chamber plans what will possibly be the most expensive campaign ever for the school board. …
