Back in the '50s, I read a fundamentals-of-basketball book written by then-Bradley University men's head coach Chuck Orsborn.

It changed my life.

From Chuck, I learned the fundamentals of shooting (though I retained the touch of a blacksmith). I learned proper defensive technique (though not even Chuck could teach me quickness). I learned not to make eye contact with my intended target while passing (which might explain why I tended to hit people in the shoelaces a lot).

But most of all, what I learned from Chuck was that passing is good and dribbling is evil.
