HOMETOWN: Grapevine, Texas

1999-2000 STATS: Averaged 12 points and 9.2 assists a game as a senior at Dallas Bishop Lynch. Was the starting point guard for three straight state championship teams.

2000-2001 ROLE: Will push for plenty of playing time and maybe a starting role once she recovers from surgery for tonsillitis performed Oct. 9. Will be expected to add some firepower, especially from 3-point range, in the backcourt.

AMBITION AFTER COLLEGE: Work with kids, whether it be coaching or teaching

MAJOR: Undecided

CAREER HIGHLIGHT: Selected as an AAU All-American

Miranda Sanchez

6-1, 155, senior post

HOMETOWN: Albuquerque (Sandia HS)

1999-2000 STATS: Averaged 11.3 points and 5.4 rebounds while starting all 29 games. Was first-team all-Mountain West Conference. Hit 42 percent from the field on 3-pointers.

2000-2001 ROLE: Sanchez is no secret to conference foes, so she must move better without the ball to get open. Has the green light anytime she feels like shooting but sometimes is reluctant. Will be harder to defend and thus a huge threat if shooting from the rest of the team improves.

AMBITION AFTER COLLEGE: Go to law school and then begin a family

MAJOR: Criminology

CAREER HIGHLIGHT: Winning the WAC championship and going to NCAA Tournament
