Ex-Worker Says Union Forced Him To Resign.

A former union employee in Santa Fe was forced to resign after he reported allegedly illegal union activities to authorities, a lawsuit filed Monday in Sandoval County says.

Joseph Kupfer, a former political action representative with the state's American Federation of State, County and Municipal Employees, resigned from his post on Nov. 1, 1997, the lawsuit says.

In July 1997, Kupfer reported to AFSCME officials in Washington, D.C., and an FBI agent in separate meetings that former AFSCME statewide president Luis Arellano had ordered him to commit illegal acts, the suit says.

Arellano resigned as AFSCME president in July 1999. …
