* Flavio Garciandia traces the evolution of painting in his homeland and references his mentors

Recent works by Flavio Garciandia, one of Cuba's best-known contemporary painters, will be shown in an exhibition opening Friday at the Museum of Fine Arts, 107 W. Palace Ave. in Santa Fe.

An opening reception will be held from 5:30-7:30 p.m. Friday, and the show continues through Jan. 21.

"Clyfford Still Picking Mangos in His Patio (Flavio Garciandia Was There)" will examine the current Cuban artistic production in a show of 24 paintings loaned by the artist in collaboration with the Ramis Barquet Gallery in Monterey, Mexico. …
