Lobos Couldn't Help Being New Mexico.(Sports)

Six years ago, under somewhat similar circumstances to those of Saturday night, a California newspaper columnist suggested the New Mexico Lobos had kicked away a potential football victory against San Diego State because UNM "couldn't help being New Mexico."
It was a condescending statement, sure. Snooty, even.
But it also might contain more than a little truth.
Still.
The Lobos lost to San Diego State on Saturday, blowing a 16-0 halftime lead in an el foldo that evoked unwelcome memories of past Lobos los foldos.
