Art Blumenfeld Known For City's Quality of Life Projects.(New Mexico & The West)

Art Blumenfeld, a longtime city official who played a key role in the Albuquerque Biological Park and the Explora children's museum, died Friday after a 14-year struggle with lymphoma and myelodysplasia. He was 68.

Known as a "consummate public servant," he worked quietly behind the scenes to make Albuquerque better, friends and colleagues said.

A service celebrating his life will be held Saturday at 10 a.m. at the KiMo Theatre, 423 Central NW. Nearby parking is in the municipal lot at Fifth and Copper NW.

Mayor Jim Baca praised Blumenfeld, who was chief administrative officer for Mayor Louis Saavedra and director of finance and management for Mayor Harry Kinney and Mayor David Rusk. …
