Mother Sues Schools for Alleged Abuse.

The mother of a Hernandez Elementary School student has sued the Espanola Public Schools District, claiming a teacher picked up her son by the neck and slammed him into a wall.

Jo Anna Esquibel filed suit last week in state District Court in Santa Fe on behalf of her son, Christopher Espinoza. The school district, former Hernandez principal Mary Agnes Martinez and former Hernandez teacher Kirby Goforth all are named as defendants.

Goforth was supervising students on the playground at Hernandez Elementary School in December when she began to verbally discipline Christopher, the lawsuit states.

"(Goforth) then physically picked him up by his neck so that his feet were off the ground and slammed his head against an exterior wall of a school building," the lawsuit stated. …
