Most Tax Issues Have Minimal Effect.(Metro & New Mexico)

Eleven bond issues and mill levies are on next week's ballot in Bernalillo County, but only one of them a tax increase for the University of New Mexico Hospital would make much of a change in homeowners' bills.

The owner of a home that is on the tax rolls at $128,000 the median price of homes sold last year in Albuquerque now pays about $1,500 in annual property taxes, according to county officials. If all 11 bond issues and mill levies are approved, that bill would increase by $123.

Nearly the entire amount of the increase would come from the hospital levy.

For the owners of that home, the current hospital levy amounts to $166 a year, and the new levy would cost $277, according to hospital spokesman Sam Giammo. …
