*The Scorpions are cashing in on the Pokemon craze to get kids to the games

The New Mexico Scorpions are doing anything they can to appeal to the younger set.

"We're really trying to stress the family values and the family entertainment of ice hockey," says Scorpions general manager Nick LoBue. "Kids that start playing hockey are usually 4 or 5 years old."

To help appeal to the youngsters, the Scorpions have several promotions ongoing or in the works.

Tonight, when the Scorpions take on Odessa at Tingley Coliseum, the team will be trying to cash in on the popularity of the Pokemon phenomenon.

The first 2,400 children passing through the turnstiles will receive a free trading card of the Picachu character. …
