Tardiness Policy Met With Disfavor

Assistant principal John Harnisch, the new disciplinarian at Santa Fe High School, has taken heat for his strict policies against student tardiness.

When a pre-dawn fire Oct. 25 gutted the school's main campus administration building, it destroyed Harnisch's office. Investigators have determined arsonists set fire to the administration building, which earlier in the school year had been vandalized.

City police have received several leads and have heard rumors that dissatisfaction with Harnisch's discipline policies could have been the rationale for the arson, said Deputy Chief Beverly Lennen. …
