Lot Next to Nature Park To Become Open Space.

A deal to turn 30 acres of Edgewood commercial property into open space has been finalized.

Roger Alink, one of the owners of the property adjacent to Wildlife West Nature Park, said Santa Fe County and the property owners agreed on an $840,000 price for the property. The county will now meet with Alink and Edgewood community members to come up with a plan for the property.

"Everyone was able to put the politics behind us and get this done," Alink said.

In October 1999 it looked like the property would not be saved as open space. The county had offered $600,000 for the tract, which was substantially lower than the $980,000 value at which the property was appraised. …
