Bank gives $500 to Project Exile.(Corporate Giving)

Project Exile, a joint effort by law enforcement and prosecutors aimed at getting felons with firearms off the streets, has received $500 from the Bank of Albuquerque.

"Project Exile is an excellent way to reduce crime without creating new laws," said Greg Symons, chairman and CEO of Bank of Albuquerque.

Using existing federal and state statutes, Project Exile seeks mandatory federal imprisonment for convicted felons with handguns or persons in possession of illegal firearms. Richmond, Va., where Project Exile began, saw homicide rates fall by 30 percent, according to U.S. Attorney Norman Bay. Dallas and Indianapolis experienced similar reductions after implementing and enforcing gun violence reduction programs patterned after Project Exile. …
