West Side Italian restaurant lacks substance

Much about Zio's Italian Kitchen seems false. The new West Side restaurant is designed to look like a faux Italian farmhouse and giddy accordion dance music assaults the eardrums. From faux age-streaking on the walls to faux roosters on a faux roof, I found little of real substance in this chain restaurant.

The food at Zio's alternated between too salty one day and bland another day.

A $6.29 meal-size Caesar salad with grilled chicken sat uneaten on my plate because the dressing and cheese were too salty. A $3.99 Tomato Florentine Soup in a bowl of bread was gluey and too salty. …
